Robyn Kain: Manager of Program Control and Savage Gators Fan

If you know Robyn Kain, you know she’s a Florida Gators fan. And even if you don’t know her, she wants you to know it, anyway. “I’m not just a fan,” she says. “It’s a way of life!”

Robyn’s enthusiastic attitude for the Gators joins her at work, where it gets channeled into her job as Manager of Program Control on Catapult’s GSA Infrastructure Technology Global Operations (GITGO) contract, working at General Services Administration (GSA) headquarters in Washington, DC. She’s a liaison between the customer and Catapult, with an emphasis on financials. But it’s really more than that.

“Everybody is my customer,” she says. “I want to be their voice.”

That’s a big job, with more than 400 employees on the contract. Robyn focuses on recruiting, staffing plans, financial analysis and profitability. She was Catapult’s first Program Control specialist when she joined the company to work on the Department of State (DOS) contract, and helped to define the role.

As a liaison between her and GSA, she tries to avoid the disconnect that often arises at some organizations between programs and procedures and the people who are affected by them.
Through the Program Management Office (PMO), which is charged with improving processes, Catapult has long taken a proactive approach to closing that gap. When Robyn joined the PMO, she developed her awareness of the importance of mitigating any potential for disconnect. For example, she was on the team that identified Catapult e-Learning as a way to bring professional development to the everyday level at Catapult.

Robyn joined Catapult four years ago after 18 months at CSC. The University of Florida graduate (“Go Gators!”) earned a degree in Public Relations and Communications, with a minor in Spanish.

She’s engaged to Will Rees, a software developer for CACI, who she met at a University of Florida alumni event. She says they plan to marry next year, with “no pageantry—probably just the two of us.”
