Erica Sun

Senior Contracts Administrator, Catapult Headquarters
Erica Sun Has the Right Perspective on Contracts Management
Erica Sun believes in recognizing job opportunities and going after them. She started in accounts payable/accounts receivable, and then moved into pricing and, most recently, into contracts. “As I gained more experience at Catapult, it was a natural evolution to get cross-trained in other areas.”
Until 2009, Erica was Catapult’s sole contracts manager, working on every project. As the company won successive contracts from across the federal government, the volume of work became too much for just one person.
As the contracts team has grown, Erica will be able to focus primarily on the company’s biggest contract, General Services Administration (GSA) Infrastructure Technology Global Operations (GITGO), yet also manage the overall contracts efforts for the Technology and Management Solutions division.
“The contract teams supports each other,” Erica says. “When we have downtime, we help minimize someone else’s backlog.”
When you win work, Erica says, your job is then to deliver. “It doesn’t do any good to continue to win work if you can’t retain your customers. You have to show them that you’re going to do what you need to do to make the project successful and that you take them seriously.”
She adds, “One of the best things about Catapult, and one of the biggest reasons I’ve been here for five years is that we have good people. Even when there wasn’t a full contracts team, everyone involved in responding to a request for a proposal pulled together. We still do that.
“Everyone at Catapult has a good, solid work ethic and wants to help get the company to the next step.”
