Barry Kane joined Catapult in 2006 to manage the company’s day-to-day operations. He builds upon more than 40 years of experience in the public and private sectors, bringing a significant breadth of experience at a number of successful small- to mid-level businesses, as well as an extensive knowledge of the federal contracting business—a critical component to continuing Catapult’s growth trajectory.

Focused on strategic expansion and capitalizing on significant growth opportunities, Barry has lead through change and uncertainty, applying an entrepreneurial mindset to give Catapult a competitive advantage in the federal marketplace.

Barry has a track record of acquiring new work, expanding existing contracts, building and running an efficient organization and exceeding revenue and profit estimates. He has a solid technical background in engineering, telecommunications, and information technology.

Prior to joining Catapult, Barry was senior vice president at CACI and executive vice president and chief operating officer of AlphaInsight, where he was responsible for all aspects of operations, business development, and proposal development for the company. As executive vice president at SIGNAL Corporation and vice president at Synetics Corporation, Barry acquired and managed government contracts in excess of $120 million.

He continued his federal IT career in the private sector following a 20-year Coast Guard career culminating as the telecommunications division chief in Coast Guard Headquarters. His Coast Guard service included duty at the United States Coast Guard Academy, Seventh District/Miami, and Volpe National Transportation Systems Center.

Barry is a pivotal part of the Veterans Institute for Procurement (VIP) program started by the Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation (MCCCF). He has been an instructor, keynote speaker, and panelist throughout the program and continues to help the MCCC shape the content and scope of the program, whose intent is to help veteran-owned businesses increase their ability to secure government contracts by establishing best business practices.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Coast Guard Academy and a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is a licensed professional engineer.
